Well, Lillie, it looks like church touring is an affliction of the masses (no pun intended). My mother was a big fan of seeing every church, chapel, temple or synogague available in whatever state or country she was visiting. She drug me from altar to pew through many of them on the tiny Hawaiian island of Molokai, which has many historic churches, a couple founded by Father Damien (the leper advocate). We used to call these outings the ABC tour (another blasted church). I think, though, she was cured by a Russian barge tour, which took the ABC concept to extremes. Looking forward to your next installment. Travel safely, Jan

Lilli!
I am thrilled to be on your blog list! I can picture your baroquely overly-Baroque church, because I've seen them elsewhere (Peru, Spain, Mexico) and CAN'T stand them! Sorry, but I disagree with Martha's rule! Katie's rule is visit EVERY single church and mosk and temple you can! Even though I don't worship anymore, I am often inspired by human creativity in architecture.

I love that we get a teaser in the email notification for your blog posts! Too bad you couldn't take photos from inside the church, I would have loved to have compared with the photos of the cathedral in Guadalajara...now there's a church! The one church a day rule works for me, I'd stick with it. Enjoy tomorrow, can't wait to see what you find at the market!

Love,
Aurora

Hi Lilli,
We, Women of Spirit missed you last night!I played a tape by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, author of our book for September ~ "Women Who Run with thw Wolves". She clarifies the meaning of "wild" in this tape. She means "instinctual" or natural. We women need to tap into our creative flow, the "eternal river within" and break out of what our culture is sooo good at doing ~ caging women! I will think of you on this trip every time I feel caged! You are a good examble of something I just heard ~ "People are like rivers ~ they go where they must, not where we want them to go." So ~ enjoy yourself, be yourself and remember to HOWL!!
In Peace,
Margot Webb-Foltz

Yay, Lilli! What a kick to hear from you way far away. Everything works just fine and dandy (with a slight exception for a a ñ tilde thing in Coppermine. Ah well. More to learn). The photos are great. Of course, I'm picturing how it's working for you on your end. Love the ease of the gallery software.

Next time you're in an internet cafe, how about a bit of geeky details -- what kind of computers and operating systems and whether they'll sell you blank CDs to burn your digital photos on. I walked by Distant Lands in Old Town and thought of you. Continued ¡Buen viaje! to you. :)

(p.s. thanks for the e-card!)
